Sarasota Christian is an independent school and does not receive financial support of local or federal tax dollars. In fact, SCS is entirely dependent on revenue from tuition and the generosity of our current and past parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, and community friends in private gifts.

Give Now

Donate today to support the students, faculty and programs at Sarasota Christian School.

SCS Blazer Fund

The SCS Blazer Fund, our Annual Giving Program, plays an invaluable role in providing enrichment opportunities for our students and faculty that tuition alone cannot cover. Whether meeting a guest speaker in chapel, working in our state-of-the-art media center, participating in a hands-on field trip, or learning material from dedicated and caring faculty, the SCS Blazer Fund helps our children reach their full potential as students, artists, musicians, leaders and athletes. Your support of the SCS Blazer Fund makes it all possible and impacts every corner of campus.

We are proud of Sarasota Christian School’s culture of philanthropy and strong community support! Please join our Board of Directors and faculty and staff by making a gift to the SCS Blazer Fund today.

Endowment Giving

An endowment is the financial foundation of all successful educational institutions. These funds ensure the future of SCS by investing donations and requiring that the principal remain intact. This allows the school to invest the interest income into additional programs and opportunities for students. Endowments function as a permanent financial resource from which only part of the income is spent on an annual basis. Gifts to any of our five endowment funds secure future funding for SCS.

General Endowment

General endowment funds support the area of greatest need for Sarasota Christian School.

Clayton & Omar Mayer Endowment

This endowment supports our tradition of athletic excellence by funding improvements to our athletic offerings as well as maintaining and updating our athletic facilities.

Tony Colton Endowment

This endowment helps provide financial tuition assistance for students in need. Tony Colton was an exemplary SCS student that embodied the ideals upon which Sarasota Christian School is based and fought a valiant battle against cancer.

Charles & Ruth Shue Endowment

This endowment provides tuition assistance to families who desire a Christian education and have significant financial need.

Izzy & Mary Yoder Endowment

This endowment supports and enriches our elementary school programs.

Capital Fund

Like most Christian schools, the majority of our revenue comes from tuition and annual fund giving.  Yet, these funds alone cannot provide for many of the long-term resources essential to advancing the school.  The Capital Fund supports projects that fall outside of the annual operating budget such as new construction or major renovations.  The school has been blessed over the years with generous donors who have made the addition of each facility possible.  Although buildings are only part of what makes a school outstanding, they are critical to a
dynamic learning environment.

Legacy Gifts

Those who remember Sarasota Christian School in their wills, bequests and other estate gifts such as life insurance, annuities, remainder trusts, etc., become members of the 1958 Society and are vital to preserving the future of Sarasota Christian School.

The 1958 Society members have indicated in writing that they have made provisions for Sarasota Christian School in their estate plans. In addition to being a meaningful gift, “planned giving” helps to reduce or eliminate taxes on capital gains and federal estate taxes. Please check with your financial planner or accountant for more details on arranging for a planned gift, and the personal benefits associated with that charitable gift.

If you have made arrangements for a gift to SCS in your estate planning and wish to be listed as a member of the 1958 Society, please contact the Advancement Office at dmitchell@SarasotaChristian.org or email development@sarasotachristian.org.

Other Ways to Support SCS

Gifts In-Kind

Donations of equipment, materials, or other valuable items for SCS classrooms, media center, offices or facilities are considered gifts in kind. Acceptance of items is subject to usage and space constraints. Individuals may contact the Advancement Office to donate a gift in kind.

Matching Gifts

Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift! Contact the Advancement Office to find out if you work for a matching gift employer.

Memorial and Named Gifts

A family member, faculty member, student, alumni, friend or loved one may be honored through a special named or memorial gift to SCS. Many varied opportunities exist and the Advancement Office can assist with arrangements on an individual basis.
