Creativity and “outside the box” thinking are celebrated through Odyssey of the Mind (O.M.). The international problem solving competition is for students from kindergarten through college age. Team members work together to solve a long-term problem as well as practice working under pressure for spontaneous challenges. Students compete in local competition and have the opportunity to advance to both the state and World Final levels.
Sarasota Christian has been involved with O.M. for well over a decade and has advanced many teams to state competition and World Finals.
SCS is home to the 2016 Odyssey of the Mind World Champions!
The SCS After School Enrichment Program
is an innovative and engaging environment for students to discover new interests and friends. New options each quarter mean students have a variety of experiences available each school year.
Past offerings have included:
Students have the opportunity to participate both in front of the camera and behind the scenes on our weekly news show.
We are grateful as a Christian school to be able to share and instill the word of God as our students navigate the most formative years of their lives. It is inspiring to watch our students grow in their faith, minister to each other and commit their lives to Christ. SCS aims to help all of our students on their faith journey through the following ways:
High school students must achieve distinction in scholarship, leadership, service, and character to be eligible for National Honor Society membership.
Student Council gives elected students an opportunity to lead and serve the school and the community. In addition, student council members plan and organize special events and functions at SCS.
The Student Ambassador Program is made up of students who are dedicated to welcoming, serving, and providing a sense of community at Sarasota Christian School. Ambassadors provide campus tours, serve as “shadow” buddies for prospective students and lend a hand at various SCS events.
The elementary music program includes fundamental concepts like rhythm, vocal techniques and both instrumental and vocal music. Elementary students participate in both the Christmas program and the Spring Concert.
Middle School students have the ability to select band, orchestra or choir as their music course preference. All will take part in the Celebration of Praise in December as well as the Spring Concert.
