Students compete in local competition and have the opportunity to advance to both the state and World Final levels.

Faith Building

An SCS education offers what others cannot – a learning experience deeply rooted in Christ

We are grateful as a Christian school to be able to share and instill the word of God as our students navigate the most formative years of their lives. It is inspiring to watch our students grow in their faith, minister to each other and commit their lives to Christ. SCS aims to help all of our students on their faith journey through the following ways:

  • Curriculum:
  • Teachers integrate faith and Biblical teachings into the written and spoken curriculum in all subjects.

  • Chapel:
  • Chapel provides time for student leadership, guest speakers, worship, prayer and small group community.

  • Student Led Worship and Ministry Teams:
  • Middle and high school students have the unique opportunity for leadership through worship teams at SCS.  Student teams plan and lead chapel programs.

  • Bible Classes:
  • SCS offers students Bible study in an academic setting as a place to learn and ask questions about Christianity. The ultimate goal of our Bible curriculum is to develop followers of Jesus Christ who enjoy a personal relationship with Him.

  • Devotions:
  • Each morning all classes will begin with classroom prayer and Biblical devotions.

  • High School Retreat:
  • Each year grades 9-12 join together in a two-day retreat for recreation and worship. The retreat gives opportunity for students and teachers to get to know each other in an informal environment, and to minister to the spiritual needs of the high school community.

  • Mission Opportunities:
  • Mission experiences provide students with the potential to change the world while also being personally changed. The Great Commission was Jesus' last command and, therefore, should be our first concern. Using the model of Acts 1:8, we offer SCS students experiences locally, regionally, and nationally.

  • Small Groups:
  • These gatherings offer an intentional way for students to establish community. This process provides an environment for students to hear and be heard.

  • Student Led Bible Studies:
  • One of the many exciting aspects of the spiritual life of our campus is seeing lives changed through the study of Scripture.

Leadership

Leadership opportunities abound for SCS students through National Honor Society, Student Council and Student Ambassador groups.

High school students must achieve distinction in scholarship, leadership, service, and character to be eligible for National Honor Society membership.

Student Council gives elected students an opportunity to lead and serve the school and the community. In addition, student council members plan and organize special events and functions at SCS.

The Student Ambassador Program is made up of students who are dedicated to welcoming, serving, and providing a sense of community at Sarasota Christian School. Ambassadors provide campus tours, serve as “shadow” buddies for prospective students and lend a hand at various SCS events.

Music

All SCS students are given the ability to express themselves through music. Opportunities include music classes, band, orchestra and choir.

The elementary music program includes fundamental concepts like rhythm, vocal techniques and both instrumental and vocal music. Elementary students participate in both the Christmas program and the Spring Concert.

Middle School students have the ability to select band, orchestra or choir as their music course preference. All will take part in the Celebration of Praise in December as well as the Spring Concert.
