Application Process

The admissions process at Sarasota Christian School is designed to identify student’s academic readiness and unique talents.   We welcome students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, and do not discriminate on this basis in admission or in any area of the school life and program.  Our Admissions Office is happy to help you with any questions you may have regarding the application process.

Pre-K/VPK Application Process

1.  Tour and Visit: We encourage all prospective students/families to visit our 25-acre campus during one of our open houses or for a personal tour.

2.  Application: An application form must be completed including all required documents.  Required documents vary for grade levels, so please refer to the application for details.

3.  Certificate of Eligibility: VPK Applicants must receive a Certificate of Eligibility from the Sarasota County Early Learning Coalition.  Parents can contact the Child Care Connection at 941-556-1600, ext. 125 for more information about the VPK program.

Age Requirements Note:
Pre-K:  Must be at least four years of age on or before September 1st
VPK:  Must be four years of age on or before September 1st, but not yet 5 years old or older, and/or not eligible for kindergarten.

Kindergarten through 12th Grade Application Process

1.  Tour and Visit: We encourage all prospective students/families to visit our 25-acre campus during one of our open houses or for a personal tour.

2.  Application: An application form must be completed including all required documents.  Required documents vary for grade levels, so please refer to the application for details.

3.  Evaluation: Application and submitted paperwork will be evaluated to determine placement.

4.  Interviews: After the completed application is received and initial evaluation completed, parents and students meet with the principal or guidance counselor to determine acceptance.

5. Acceptance Notification: Applications are accepted anytime and approved applicants will be notified beginning March 14th.  Applications received after this date will be accepted pending space availability.

6.  Enrollment Process: After receiving an acceptance notification parents will need to complete/submit the following to enroll and secure a place for their child.

  • Complete enrollment agreement
  • Select payment option: payment in full or 11-month automatic bank withdrawal
  • A copy of student’s birth certificate
  • A copy of student’s social security card
  • Original copy of physical examination form (yellow HRS-H#3040 form)
  • Original copy of immunization form (blue DH#680 form)
  • Health history form
  • Emergency care consent form
  • Family contact information form
  • After-care form (if applicable)
Age Requirements Note:
Kindergarten: Must be five years of age on or before September 1st, as required by the State of Florida
First Grade: Must be six years of age on or before September 1st, as required by the State of Florida.  Students reaching age six on or before December 3lst will also evaluated for their emotional, social and academic readiness.  This determination is made after a conference with student and parents upon recommendation from the kindergarten teacher, and satisfactory scores on the developmental and ability tests.
