Where It All Began
Sarasota Christian School was established in 1958 by a group of Mennonite parents who were interested in having their children educated in a truly Christian atmosphere. The school aims to serve this need for all who desire a distinctively Christian education regardless of denomination, race, color or national origin.
The school has shown steady growth from its small beginning in 1958 of 15 students on the first day. Sarasota Christian School is located on an inviting 25-acre campus and offers a quality educational program on the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Its students, come from a wide diversity of backgrounds, represent various denominations and congregations. We provide a peaceful environment in which our students can grow and thrive. We are a community of learners called to a lifetime of service through Christ.
This Year SCS Celebrates 60 Years
A look at the past with a vision for the future…
On September 3, 1958, Sarasota Christian School opened its doors to one teacher and fifteen students, many of them using desks that had been made by the Founders. From those humble days at Tuttle Avenue Mennonite Church, to the sprawling 25-acre campus that we now occupy, the mission of SCS has remained firm: to equip students with a love for Christ, a passion to learn, the courage to lead, and a commitment to serve. We invite you to join us in celebrating this tradition of educational excellence during our anniversary year
