Send Us Your Story for the SCS History Book

Sarasota Christian School will celebrate its 50th anniversary during the 2008-2009 school year. To commemorate this event, we have formed a committee to collect stories and photos from the very beginning of the school to the present.

We need your help! We are looking for true stories about situations that you experienced as part of the school family, whether you were a

• Student
• Parent or grandparent
• Faculty or staff member
• Administrator
• Board member, or
• Person associated with the school in some way

STORY GUIDELINES

The story needs to focus on a particular person, event or situation. It needs to include enough detail so the reader can follow the story line and understand what you were thinking and feeling at the time. We need to know what happened that changed your life in some small way or solved the problem you had. How were you or others inspired by what happened? Make us laugh, cry or get goosebumps!

Possible topics include how you were “led” to SCS; a turning point you may have experienced; the power of friendship; a moment of awareness; how you experienced God’s guidance in a particular situation; overcoming some insurmountable obstacle; miracles or heavenly “coincidences,” and any other story that will touch readers and make them feel more hopeful and grateful or connected to the school as a result of reading it.

Those stories that we can use will be subject to editing for space constraints.

PHOTO GUIDELINES

We would greatly appreciate any photos that you can share with us.

• If you can part with the photos, please bring them into the school or mail them to the address listed above. Please add the line:  ATTN: Gail Pentz.

Any information you can include with the photos, such as date taken, subject of the photo, names of those in the photos, etc. will help us determine where to include them in the book. Photos we can’t use for the book will be added to the school archives.

• If you prefer to LOAN us the photos, we will scan the photos and notify you when we are done. You will need to make sure your name and contact information are included with the photos so we can notify you when we have finished the scanning process. Any information you can include with the photos, such as date taken, subject of the photo, names of those in the photos, etc. will help us determine where to include them in the book.
